Thread and material

How many spools the engine may use. More colors mean a more accurate design, but more stops for rethreading and a longer stitch-out.

PNG and JPG only. A color that covers less than this share of the design is treated as noise and goes to the nearest thread. A small color disappeared (pink became red, shadows merged into the main color) — lower it. Extra threads appeared from shadows and noise — raise it. Halftones on edges between two colors are filtered out at any value.

When to lower it: the pink covered less than 1.5% of the design and went to the nearest red.

Density affects tension: on loose fabric stitches pull the design in more, so the engine adds compensation and underlay.

Backing under the fabric keeps it from shifting. The weaker the stabilizer, the denser the engine makes the reinforcing layer.
